Fighter Of The Week: Kris Gratalo

We took a coupld weeks off from our fighter of the week newsletter but we return this week with amateur fighter Kris Gratalo. At XFE 24 in June of this year we awarded Kris and his opponent (Mike Jenkins) fight of the night. Kris has been in the XFE cage twice this year and his fans can anticipate his return before the end of the year.

XFE: How did you become interested in MMA & when did you start training?
Kris: I actually had no intentions of fighting. I was helping out some friends with their wrestling. I started training in November of 2011 and had taken my first fight in February of 2012

XFE: Where are you currently training?
Kris: I am currently training out of team vicious in Williamsport

XFE: What does a typical training week include for you?
Kris: Each week I try to cover the basics and improve on my mistakes. My grapple game is strong, so I try to focus more on my striking.

XFE: Who had been your biggest supporter since you started your career as an MMA fighter?
Kris: My family and friends from my home town have definitely been my main source of support. Without them my career wouldnt exist.

XFE: What is favorite and least favorite part of preparing for a fight?
Kris: My favorite part of prepping for a fight is the adrenaline rush I get about a week out. My least favorite is cutting weight because I do a wrestlers cut not a diet.

XFE: Having fought 7 fights in just under a year and a half, do you have any regrets on that?
Kris: After taking 7 fights in this amount of time I would have to say I regret nothing. I enjoy the learning experience and testing my skill set thus far. I listen to my team and supporters and take their advice and it has lead me to where I am today.

XFE: Leading up to your last fight you held a record of 5-0, at XFE 24 you lost by decision to Mike Jenkins. How has that loss impacted your game plan?
Kris: Being 6-0 was nice but I think every fighter needs a reality check and I’m glad Mike was able to show me that. To me it’s just another learning experience and all it has done tl my game plan was motivate me to work harder. I was very relaxed at 6-0 but now I want redemption.

XFE: You were originally scheduled for a rematch against Adam Atiyeh at XFE 25 Aug 17th and had to pull off the card. When do you plan on returning to the cage?
Kris: I had an unfortunate accident on the 4th of July and crushed my foot. My return tl the cage is not set in stone but I know I will fight by the end of the year.

XFE: Anything else you would like your fans to know about you?
Kris: I just want the fight community tl know that I will return bigger and better than I have been and they’re going to see a new Kris Gratalo when I come back. Until then I will work hard and stayed focused. I don’t fight for myself, I love what I do but it’s the people that fight and support me that I fight for! Thank you
