XFE Fighter Of The Week: Eddie Alvarez

XF Events
Our last weeks Facebook fan page poll for fighter of the week was close between Pro Fighter Scott Heckman, however Eddie Alvarez’ fans pulled Eddie to 1st place!  Eddie will also be featured next week for an interview on 90.7FM WCLH.

XFE: How does having the same name as PRO MMA Fighter “Eddie Alvarez” affect you?
Eddie: It doesn’t really. I just fight and be me, most of my friends call me the “real” Eddie Alvarez. I’m 100% Hispanic.

XFE:  Prior to becoming an ammy MMA fighter did you participate in wrestling or any other sports?
Eddie: Yes! I was a tri athlete varsity starter in Soccer, track & field and of course wrestling.

XFE: Outside of training what are your interests?
Eddie: I like to hangout with my team, my boys and spend time with my family.

XFE:  What do think about the MMA community of the Allentown area?
Eddie: They are great and starting to follow it more since it’ a newer sport! The local crowd really supports me all the way! Lots of love!

XFE:  What has been the most positive and negative aspect of MMA on your life?
Eddie: The positive was probably meeting Carmelo and Jeff!  They are the owners of ATT and great men who took me in as their own.  Negative, I don’t really know of any.

XFE:  Your current record as an ammy is 4-2, what have you learned from the wins and losses?
Eddie: Well my first ever mma fight was a lost which I felt I got robbed! And even state athletic commissioner would agree.  Second lost I was throwing Blair Shutt around and got caught in a choke.  I have learned to never be in that scenario again! I’m way tougher and a better athlete then guys I’ve lost to.

XFE:  What is your training schedule like, and where are you currently training?
Eddie: I train everyday!  And I train out of ATT Steel City Allentown.

XFE: How does your family feel about your involvement in MMA?
Eddie:  My sisters love it, the rest I can’t really say.

XFE: What is your prediction for your fight at XFE Cage Wars 21 Mar 23?
Eddie: My prediction is… Eddie Alvarez with his hand raised in front of his hometown and fans!

XFE: Anything else you would like your fans to know about you?
Eddie: Yes! I’m not the other Eddie Alvarez! I’m the real Eddie Alvarez! The ATT fighter trained by Carmelo Marrero! I’m not a Pro yet and no one knows what I’m capable of! I fight out of a great ATT Camp and I know I will only get 10 times better!

Well there you have it!  Eddie along with a full card of some of the top area fighters can be seen at XFE Cage Wars 21 March 23, 2013 at The Sands Casino in Bethlehem PA.
