Fighter Of The Week: Johnny “Pipewrench” DiPatri

Our FaceBook fans nominated amateur 155lb MMA fighter Johnny “Pipewrench” DiPatri as this week’s fighter of the week.     At last weeks XFE Cage Wars Johnny did take a loss, however you can expect his June 1st fight to be nothing less than 100% determination on getting a win!

XFE: Where did the nickname “Pipewrench” originate?
Johnny: I got my nickname from doing plumbing and it stuck

XFE: Prior to becoming an MMA fighter did you participate in any other sports?
Johnny: When I was young I played just about everything I could.  I played baseball and hockey as I got older. We actually won the championship in high school my senior year for baseball. Such a good time.

XFE: Who has inspired you most as a fighter?
Johnny: Honestly I have to say George St Pierre.  He’s such an amazing athlete in this sport.

XFE: What is your favorite & least favorite part of being involved in MMA?
Johnny: My least favorite part is the beating my body takes training and fighting.   My favorite part would be the friendships I make with training partners.

XFE: If you could train with any fighter for one week who would it be and why?
Johnny:  If I knew how to speak Spanish I would say Manny Paquiao.  One week with him would probably improve my stand up greatly.

XFE: What do you feel are your strengths as a fighter?
Johnny: I would have to say my ground game.

XFE: What do you feel is the toughest part of preparing for a fight?
Johnny: Cardio usually.

XFE: With a current record of 2-2, what have learned as you prepare for next fight June 1?
Johnny:  I learned a lot in my past two fights. I have a lot to work on and a lot to improve. I took two unnecessary losses and it was only because I was trying to push myself further in different aspects of the game.  I feel like I won’t learn anything if I don’t try anything new.

XFE:  What are your interests outside of MMA?
Johnny: I enjoy Xbox, guns, weapons, hanging with friends, my girlfriend and driving my car with a choice of music.

XFE: Anything else you would like your fans to know about you?
Johnny: My fans are my friends, always will be.  New or old, I’ll always be grateful you (my fans) appreciate me putting myself in risk of injury.

We look forward having Johnny back in the XFE Cage at XFE Cage Wars 23 June 1st at Harrah’s Casino Philadelphia!
