XFCi 7 – RESULTS & RECAP
With MMA Legend Wanderlei Silva cage-side calling the fights, Allan Puro Osso Nascimento defeats Ukrainian Ruslan Abiltarov in XFCi 7 Main Event.
One of the world’s biggest names in MMA, “The Axe Murderer” commentated the event live on Rede TV!; Allan Nascimento & Julie Werner victoriously headline a night of Next Generation action.
The presence of one-living legend in MMA and a Brazilian victory in the main event dictated another great night of XFC. In the seventh edition of the International Tournament & Superfight Series, Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Ginasio o Sao Paulo Futebol Clube, Wanderlei Silva shared the spotlight with Allan Puro Osso, who won an important victory in his young career. The Chute Boxe Diego Lima athlete defeated Ukrainian Ruslan Abiltarov by unanimous decision (29-28), in the Flyweight division (up 56,7kg). With 14 wins on his record, his third within the HeXagon, Nascimento looks to make a title run inside the promotions growing division.
As expert in muay thai as Wanderlei Silva, women’s Flyweight prospect Juliana Werner was another winner of the night; facing off in a Brazil vs Ukraine co-main event. Iryna Shaparenko, only 19 years, was unable to overcome the Rear Naked Choke submission and fell to Werner at 2min 30sec of the second round. This came as no surprise to Werner’s fans, as she has won five of his seven fights by submission.
President of the XFC, Myron Molotky, highlighted the success of another great event in Brazil during a post fight interview with Wanderlei: “Allan is approaching the belt, and we will think fondly on the possibility of his title shot. Julie Werner has had a major debut in the XFC, our tournaments had a great start, just incredible fights. This is the Next Generation of MMA!”
Allan Nascimento wins challenge against Ukrainian
Allan Puro Osso took another step towards the XFC title fight on Saturday night, but had to overcome one of the toughest challenges of his career against Ruslan Abiltarov. The first two rounds were a lot of movement and very close, but the Brazilian one up’d his Russian opponent, winning by one point in each. In the third, Allan sought to keep more of the fight standing, throwing big combinations. He took control of the duel, avoiding the rush of his falling opponent. In the end, all three judges awarded a 29-28 victory by unanimous decision for Nascimento’s first decision win of his career – until then, his stats showed 12 submissions and 2 knockouts.
International Tournament fights showcase The Next Generation
With the opening of the XFC Season II Tournaments, emotions were not lacking. The four semifinalists of the Welterweight (up 77,1kg) and Female Strawweight (up 52,2kg) categories were defined Saturday Night. Among the televised fights of the night, Cairo Rocha, with massive support from the fans in the arena, defeated the Russian Sergei Bal, in a 30-27 unanimous decision. In the third main duel, Carlston Lindsay Harris also had all the judges in his favor to secure his advancement in the tournament.
Two fighters who also took one more step towards the finale of the tournament was Paulo César Santos and Michel Pereira, who defeated their opponents – Venezuelan Anthony Suarez and Geraldo Luan Santana. In the first clash, Michel Pereira applied a guillotine choke at 2 minutes and 40 seconds into the first round and confirmed victory. Paulo César triumphed by split decision.
Among the women in the Strawweight tournament, the Europeans took the advantage. Hungarian Dora Perjes defeated Natal’s Luana Medeiros with a heel hook in the first round to advance to the Semifinals. Ukrainian Marina Moroz fit a beautiful armbar in the first round and eliminated Karine Silva GP. The single Brazilian duel, Viviane Pereira defeated Fernanda Pinheiro with a TKO at 3:22 in the first round.
Liana Pirosin wins, advances and electrifies the arena
The most electrifying duel of the night was the closer of the quarterfinals of the Women’s Strawweight. With excitement and striking from beginning to end, the Brazilian Liana Pirosin defeated Colombia’s Marcela Yineris by unanimous decision. With chants of supporters in favor of Curitiba, Liana dominated the fight from start to finish and stamped her passport to the Semi-finals. Liana was embraced by Wanderlei Silva at the end of the fight; earning respect & praise from the MMA legend.
Opening the night, was the tournament reserves for the lightweight (up 70,3kg) division. William Cilli defeated Reinaldo Ekson with a heel hook in the second round, while Islan Reis defeated Romerio dos Santos with a TKO at 2:23 of RD 2.
