The stakes have been raised!  Xtreme Fighting Championships upped the ante at XFC 25: Boiling Point, with the addition of a Featherweight elimination bout between Stephen “Bigfish” Bass and Farkhad Sharipov.  The 145 pound match up takes place on Sept 6th, LIVE on AXS TV, from the Albuquerque Convention Center.  The winner of the Bass/Sharipov showdown will now face the winner of and Oct 18th matchup between Jason Hicks versus Deivison Ribeiro, for the undisputed XFC Featherweight Title.

Stephen “Bigfish” Bass (10-1) is ready to return to the spotlight.  The Ultimate Fighter Season 14 alum was last seen in December of 2011, taking Marcus Brimage to a judges decision, at the Bisping vs Miller season finale.  After taking some much needed time off, “The Bigfish” signed a multi-fight deal with Xtreme Fighting Championships and has now set his sights on the XFC Featherweight Division.  The Georgia fighter turned pro in 2007, after a successful amateur career that included a South Carolina Golden Gloves Championship and a United States ISKA Lightweight Championship.  Bass holds 5 wins by way of submission and 1 by TKO.  His usually superior ground game will be tested when he faces the equally skilled Sharipov on Sept 6th.

Farkhad “Frank” Sharipov (13-5, XFC 4-0) is no stranger to the XFC cage.  Sharipov’s history with the Tampa based promotion goes back to XFC 2, where me made his professional debut.  Since then, Farkhad has made stops in some of the country’s top promotions, which included three more victories inside the XFC cage.  The native of Kyrgystan started his career with a 7-3 record.  It was in Sharipov’s 11th pro fight that he submitted future UFC star Alex Caceres and kick started an impressive undefeated two year stretch, from 2009 – 2011.  Highly regarded as one of the top fighters in the state of Florida, Farkhad Sharipov is now ready to add championship gold to his resume.  However, before he can be fitted for a title belt, the grappling guru must get past a hungry Stephen Bass in Albuquerque on Sept 6th.  In what many are calling a toss up, the Bass/Sharipov is sure to be an instant classic.

“If this fight wasn’t big already, it just became huge”, said XFC President John Prisco.  “The winner of this fight punches his ticket to the Featherweight Title bout.  Both Bass and Sharipov leave everything in the cage, every time they enter it.  I’m anxious to see what level they take it to, now that it involves a title shot.  These are two seasoned vets in their prime.  They have both proven they have the cardio to go the distance, and history shows, when they go the distance, they win.  Something is going to have to give here.  To win this fight, someone is going to step out of their comfort zone; someone will have to be better where their opponent thinks they are weakest.  That’s how close this one is.”

Xtreme Fighting Championships heads to Albuquerque, New Mexico for XFC 25: Boiling Point on September 6, 2013.  The event is presented by ICRealTime Security Solutions and Throat Punch Industries Apparel.  The event will be broadcast Live on AXS TV from the Albuquerque Convention Center, beginning at 9pm Eastern.  For more information on the event or to purchase tickets, visit www.OfficialXFC.com.  For daily updates and news, follow this event, and the XFC, on Facebook and Twitter @OfficialXFC.
