UFC 91 Shaping Up To Be A Huge Event

As most are already aware the main event has been announced for the UFC 91 event. Randy Couture has signed a three fight contract with the UFC. His first bout will be against the enormous world class wrestler Brock Lesnar. Dana White has already made it clear that he expects this to be UFC’s biggest fight ever. He is expecting record numbers when it comes to pay-per-view buys. Also confirmed for the November 15th event in Las Vegas is the matchup between Kenny Florian and Joe Stevenson. So what would help solidify this event and bring in record breaking pay-per-view numbers? How about a third matchup (first in the Octagon) between Rampage and The Axe Murderer? Wanderlei Silva and Quinton Jackson have fought twice before in Pride with Silva winning by knockout both times. It’s been four years since the two have went toe to toe and a lot has happened in those four years. Rampage entered the UFC with two K.O. victories. Eastman was stopped followed by his championship winning knockout over Liddell. Silva, however, didn’t enter the UFC so nicely. Silva was on the losing end of a great fight with Chuck Liddell. Silva seemed to be at a low point of his career having lost three straight fights. Rampage and Silva have since traded places with Quinton Jackson hitting new lows by losing his championship belt to Forrest Griffin and being arrested after leading police on a chase through the streets of California. At the same time, Wanderlei Silva returned to his own self by viciously knocking out Keith Jardine. With Rampage’s ongoing trouble in and outside of the octagon and Silva’s return could we see a third stoppage of Quinton Jackson or will Rampage redeem himself? One thing’s for sure, UFC 91 will be exciting and highly anticipated.
