The venue has not been officially announced but rumor is that it might take place at the University of Miami. The two heavyweight fighters were originally slated to meet in October, 2007 at the Cage Fury Fighting Championships event in Atlantic City, NJ. The show was cancelled when event organizers shut down the show after denying numerous rumors of the cancellation. Soon after the cancellation of that event Kimbo Slice was signed to a long term contract with EliteXC. He went on the prove that he is more than just the internet sensation, tapping out Bo Cantrell in under 20 seconds in his official mma debut in November. The 33 year old is now 1-0 and is a legitimate force to be reckoned with in 2008. His opponent David “Tank” Abbott is 42 years old and looking to turn things around in 08. He has had very little success in recent years and has won only one of his last eight fights. Some other high profile bouts will be filling the card as well. Australian Kyle Noke will be fighting Scott Smith, former UFC fighter, in a middleweight match up. Two separate heavyweight bouts will include Antonio Silva and James “Colossus” Thompson. All in all it should be a great night of fights so don’t miss it. Here is the fight card so far for February 16:
I will let you know as soon as we get the full card. Original article can be seen at ProElite.com |
