Recently I had the chance to do an interview via myspace with my favorite fighter Ed “Short Fuse” Herman. You might remember him as the middleweight runner up on “The Ultimate Fighter 3″ in 2006. Ed lost a razor close decision to Kendall Grove at the Ultimate Fighter Finale.
In 2007 Ed got back to his winning ways finishing 3 opponents. He finished two by submission and one by KO. He plans to keep up his momentum going in 2008. Ed has a fight coming up at UFC83 on April 19, where he plans to give his opponent Demian Maia his first pro loss.
See how Ed feels about ranks, friends and title shots in this short interview.
Redsweat: How did it feel to get your first KO on a main UFC card in front of millions?
Ed: It was great to get a KO and to avenge a loss at the same time!
Redsweat: Seeing the way Anderson Silva is running through every 185er he steps up to, and you being on a three fight win streak right now. If you win at UFC 83, do you think your ready for a title shot? (If not how many more fights until you want one?)
Ed: We will see, I’ll take it one fight at a time.
Redsweat: Where do you feel you stand in the 185lb division?
Ed: Top 10
Redsweat: How long do you plan on competing in MMA?
Ed: As long as I can continue to compete at a high level, we will see how things go but it would be nice to retire healthy.
Redsweat: Congrats on the recent birth of two beautiful twins. Having 3 kids yourself do you think its important to teach them about MMA?
Ed: Of course, better look out for little Eddie in the years to come!
Redsweat: If you had to pick one, who is your biggest idol?
Ed: Maybe Randy or Matt Lindland its hard to say. I’m influenced by different people at different times.
Redsweat: I know Chris Leben is one of your best buds, what did you think of his last win? Do you think you two will ever have to fight?
Ed: His last fight was great, no we will never fight!
Redsweat: Who is your favorite mixed martial artist of all times?
Ed: Me hahahaha, s*** I don’t know there’s been a lot of great fighters.
Redsweat: What is your favorite fight of all time?
Ed: Couture vs Belfort
Redsweat: And finally GSP or SERRA?
Ed: GSP
Thanks to Ed Herman for taking the time out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions. Good luck on the 19th Ed and bring home a win!!! Also a BIG THANKS to Chief Editor of Redsweat Todd Yeakle for bringing me aboard his team!

Oh! well obviously you bought Redsweat because I did this interview and wrote this article when Ed Herman was my favorite fighter. Hes not anymore cause he is not as humble as I thought and it doesnt seem like he takes fighting seriously anymore. It was nice of him to answer these questions for me though. By the way Shinya Aoki is my favorite fighter now and has been for a while. HES THE MAN!

Aoki is the man! His jiu-jitsu is sick. He had what is probably my favorite submission ever this year. I can’t remember who it was against but it was in DREAM. It was the Go-Go Plata from the top. You don’t see too many Go-Go Plata’s as it is but you never see them done from the mount. It was unbelievable. I’m with you, Aoki’s the man.
