SHINOBI MMA: Main Event Set for Shinobi War 5
The show, taking place on September 5, will see Barnett and Flynn meet in the historic Liverpool Olympia to decide a new home for the belt, recently vacated by former champion Gav Hughes.
Both men are owners of unblemished records; Barnett being 7-0 and Flynn undefeated in five contests at amateur level.
A product of The MMA Academy, Barnett’s last fight on Shinobi saw him bounce back from a tough first round to defeat Iceland’s Magnus Ingvarsson in front of a partisan crowd. Barnett upped his performance in the second round to the point where the Mjolnir MMA fighter’s corner threw in the towel before the third could begin.
Jack Flynn, fighting out of Next Generation after an initial stint at Marsh Lane MMA, has carved out his five wins in various weight classes on a number of Liverpool-based shows. Having not yet fought on Shinobi; Flynn will be hoping his maiden outing on the promotion can see him clinch 70kg gold.
Matchmaker Ste Passey said: “The Shinobi MMA FC Lightweight Title has served as a springboard to the professional MMA ranks so it seems only fitting that Shinobi War 5 should be headlined by yet another Shinobi Lightweight Title bout.
On this occasion Tim Barnett will battle Jack Flynn. With both fighters being local lads from rival gyms and both boasting unbeaten records; this has all the hallmarks of another Shinobi classic!”
Shinobi War 5 will take place on Saturday September 5, 2015 at the historic Liverpool Olympia.
