ROAD FC ANNOUNCES FULL MAIN CARD FOR ROAD FC 21
8 January, 2015 – ROAD FC is excited to announce the full Main Card for the first event of 2015: ROAD FC 021 on 1 February, 2015 at the historic Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea. At “Champions Night”, as previously announced, two ROAD FC Champions will defend their titles against their number one ranked opponents. Featherweight Champion Choi Mu-Gyeom will face Seo Doo-Won, and Flyweight Champion Jo Nam-Jin will rematch Song Min-Jong.
Kim Soo-Chul versus Wagner Campos
One of South Korea’s most popular rising fighters, Kim Soo-Chul will face Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and UFC The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil veteran Wagner “Galeto” Campos. Kim turned his career on full blast when he defeated stand out fighters Kevin Belingon and Lendro Issa to claim the Inaugural ONE FC Bantamweight title. After a one year layoff due to a shoulder injury, he matched Interim Bantamweight Champion Bibiano Fernandes to consolidate the title. After a five-round thrilling match, Kim sadly experienced his only loss in two years. Back in ROAD FC, he avenged the loss with back-to-back first round finishes over two tough UFC veterans, Motonobu Tezuka and Tamura Issei.
Campos began his MMA career in Brazil in 2006, after winning many Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships. He became the Power Fight Extreme Bantamweight Champion, and was selected for the first TUF: Brazil competition. In his single UFC fight, Campos lost in the third round to Marcos Vinicius, another ROAD FC player. Campos is a well-rounded and dangerous fighter who has finishes with punches, kicks and chokes. Kim versus Campos will be an unpredictable battle!
Kim Chang-Hyun versus Sasaki Shinji
Former Spirit MC Champion Kim “Armbar” Chang-Hyun will take on Japanese grappling stand out Sasaki Shinji. Kim is one of Korea’s “first generation” MMA fighters who started competing in 2004. His ring name was well-earned by his talented grappling skill. Kim has fought in most promotions in Korea and Japan, facing the toughest opponents in both countries. His most recent first-round choke finish of Kim Seok-Mo put him back into action as a thrilling grappler.
Former Shooto Pacific Rim title challenger Sasaki is one of Japan’s most notable grapplers in MMA. The majority of his win finishes have come by way of his favorite choke. Sasaki’s most recent fight was against the legendary grappler Daisuke Nakamura, and the two fought to a Draw. Kim and Sasaki are two very experienced fighters who are eager to showcase their high level ground skills, so fans can expect a grappling showdown!
Park Ji-Hye versus Irie Miyu
As perviously announced, another beautiful female fighter, Park Ji-Hyae, will be making her professional MMA debut with ROAD FC 021. She will face Japan’s Irie Miyu, another young female atomweight fighter starting her career in MMA as well. They join many other female fighters in ROAD FC such as sensation Song Ga-Yeon, Kim Ji-Yeon, Song Hyo-Kyung, and the first Korean female signed to the UFC, Ham Seo-Hee.
Tyrone Henderson versus Hong Young-Gi
Grappling prodigy Tyrone Henderson and Tae Kwon Do Champion Hong Young-Gi have their first chance to fight on the Main Card. At Road FC 19, both fighters showcased their games with lightning-quick first round finishes, Henderson with a choke in 1:18, and Hong with a KO in just 22 seconds. This will be a sensational style-versus-style match as both fighters try to make a name for themselves in the ultra-competitive ROAD FC Featherweight division.
