Joe Doerksen has won 17 of his last 20 MMA fights, myself (MadHouse) was given the opportunity to have a real quick interview with Joe back on June 25th 2010. I was volunteering for my friends over at MMehFighter.com at the time.
MadHouse- Where were you born & raised?
Joe- Born and raised in New Bothwell, Manitoba.
MadHouse- How and when did you get into MMA?
Joe- I started training in traditional martial arts at 14, bjj at 18. Tried mma when I was 21, just as an experiment. Got hooked and never stopped.
MadHouse- Prefer a ring or cage?
Joe- Doesn’t matter to me. Cages are cool, cause they look scarier on tv. And your opponent can’t sneak out under the ropes when you’re trying to rip his arm off.
MadHouse- Whats your favorite thing to do in the snow?
Joe- Not a big fan of the winter, but I have been skiing a time or two. If I have to be outside in the cold, that would be my first choice. Definitely not good at it, but it’s fun. Maybe next winter I’ll try snowboarding…
MadHouse- Please described yourself to all the MMA fans out there that don’t know Joe Doerksen.
Joe- Joe Doerksen is a pretty happy, easy going country kid who just happened to be ok at punching people in the face. I may not be perfect, but I’m pretty damn good. When I’m not fighting or training I like to hang out with my friends and family, drink beer and eat cheeseburgers. Road trips are fun, too.
MadHouse- Thanks for your time Joe and all the best
Joe- No problem
Props to Joe for the photographs
