MMAmadhouse was very pleased when given the honor of an interview with Miesha “TAKEDOWN” Tate and here it is.
Madhouse- Thank you very much for finding the time to grant me this interview Miesha, MMAmadhouse trys to spend equal time covering female MMA and its a real pleasure to get this chance.
How did you get started in Mixed Martial Arts.
Miesha- After wrestling in High School I found an MMA Club sport in College but didn’t know what MMA was really. I thought I would never want to do any kind of contact fighting because I was used to wrestling so submission wrestling came naturally, but never wanted to get punched lol until I went to my first fight card and saw all the action and I immediately wanted to try it myself!
Madhouse- Where do you train and who do you train with to prepare for your fights?
Miesha- I just moved 3 months ago from Dennis Hallman’s camp in Olympia, Wa to Ultimate Fitness with Urijah Faber in Sacramento Ca. For this last fight I trained entirely at Ultimate Fitness with my teammates there which are all guys namely Bryan Caraway, Mike Ortega, Danny Castillo
Madhouse- With a the record (11-2) and still at a very young age, where do you see yourself in the future?
Miesha- Well next up is a World Champion Title shot which I’ve been waiting for my whole fight career! Its going to be me vs the winner of Sarah Kaufman vs Marloes Coenen on October 9th. Thats all I have my sights set on now!
Madhouse- Please tell your fans and the MMAmadhouse readers something we don’t know about you?
Miesha- I don’t like anything chocolate flavored I only like real milk chocolate or dark chocolate but hate chocolate cake and ice-cream in particular
Madhouse- What does it mean for you to be at the forefront of Female MMA and to inspire young athletes.
Miesha- It means the world to me, I only hope I can inspire other up and coming women like the women who inspired me to get where I am at.
Madhouse- Female MMA is rarely spoken of. As a young female athlete representing the sport, what would you like say to women thinking about getting involved in the world of MMA?
Miesha- Well it is growing very quickly in numbers and popularity, I say if you wanna do something go for it no matter what it is. Life is way to short to do something you don’t enjoy.
Madhouse- How badly do want to have rematches with Sarah Kaufman and Kaitlin Young?
Miesha- Sarah Kaufman is my most sought after rematch for sure and I hope I get to meet her in my next fight for the title but either way I’m gunning for the belt. As far as Kaitlin goes I wanted that fight for a long time but she’s on a 4 fight losing streak and has kind of fallen off as of late so I don’t feel like fighting her would say much if I beat her BUT if givin the opportunity I would definitely take it!!
Madhouse- Thanks again Miesha for doing this, MMAmadhouse wishes you all the best in your future. Please feel free to thank or say whatever you like.
Miesha- Thank you! I would like to thank my teammates at Ultimate Fitness and all the people a long the way that have supported me, in particular Bryan Caraway and all my fans I LOVE YOU! I truly believe I have the best fans ever! My sponsors Cage Hero, 5Star, NBfighters.com, Full Tilt Poker, Tussle, Cage Candy and High Performance MMA
Madhouse- Oh shoot, I forgot to ask you the one question I ask everyone. If you had a fight next week what would you choose for your walk-out song?
Miesha- Oh for my walkout song I would pick heart of a champion by Nelly
