MMAmadhouse is happy to introduce MMA Fighter Nathan Johre. Nathan was born in New Westminster, BC and lived in Mission, BC until the age of ten. Nathan started his training at “True Fighter” in Coquitlam, BC about a year ago but soon moved to Trail, BC and started training with “Pride Gym” Nathan’s record is 1-0 thus far into his career and is fighting KYLE WILSON (RONIN GRAND PRAIRE, AB) October 2nd at Caged Rage 4 LOCKDOWN.
Lets get to know this MMA Fighter.
Madhouse- I thank you for your time Nathan and good luck with your up coming fight. Please tell the MMAmadhouse readers what got you interested in training and fighting in this true combat sport called Mixed Martial Art?
Nathan- Well I’ve always liked to compete, I’m a very competitive person. Once I left high school I needed something to do because I couldn’t play school sports anymore. I’ve always loved to wrestle whether it was in a back year or living room. The idea of boxing and muay thai had always interested me so I figured why not. I started taking classes and just fell in love with it!
Madhouse- Have you set any goals for yourself in regards to MMA and what are they?
Nathan- I mean, anyone that takes mixed martial arts seriously has the same goal, to fight in the UFC! I would love to one day but in the meantime i need to just take what fights i can get and keep improving from them win or lose.
Madhouse- For sure the UFC is the place to be. So how much training are you doing leading up to your fight at Caged Rage 4?
Nathan- As much as possible! 5-6 days a week depending on how busy school is at the time.
Madhouse- What are you studying?
Nathan- Criminology
Madhouse- In hopes of becoming a Police Officer or do you have other plans in the future?
Nathan- It’s a possibility. Something to do with law enforcement anyways.
Madhouse- Right on, time to change it up a little. Who is your favorite MMA fighter and why?
Nathan- Favorite fighter would have to be Junior Dos Santos. Thats because I love how he is always looking to finish the fight! He’s a great boxer and throws everything he has with bad intensions. He’s also very humble.
Madhouse- Junior Dos Santos is a beast. He gets the winner of Lesnar VS Cane. Who do you think wins that fight and who would you rather see Junior Dos Santos fight for the title?
Nathan- I love Cane but I’m going to have to say Lesnar. Brock is just way to big and powerful for Cane to control or stop his takedowns. I would rather see Dos Santos fight Cane because it will be a brawl! They both have great hands and love to bang!
MadHouse – What are your greatest strengths as a fighter?
Nathan- I dont really know to be honest. I dont reeally like to talk about myself so thats a very hard question for me to awnser. If I had to I would say my jab..it seems to land most of the time and allows me to set other things up off of it. I would say I’m most comfortable keeping it standing.. I used to like taking it to the ground alot more but ever since working with the great boxing coach at Pride Gym as well as Glen and the rest of the team, I feel much more comfortable standing.
Madhouse- If you had a fight tomorrow night what would you choose for a walk-out song?
Nathan- The Second Coming by Juelz Santana.
Madhouse- What three words best describes MMA?
Nathan- Action packed, unpredictable, diverse.
Madhouse- Great, who has hit you the hardest related to MMA?
Nathan- Jordan Knippelberg
Madhouse- Anyone out there you’d like to give props?
Nathan- All of my trainers and sparring partners back at pride. Couldn’t ask for anything better. And also the trainers at Truefighters MMA for preparing me for this fight. But most importantly for this fight my friend and training parter Lucan Madden. He’s spent alot of time helping me train for this fight by being a great sparring partner and phenominal pad holder whenever I need him to. Big Props to him!
Madhouse- Thank you so much for your time Nathan, it’s been a pleasure for me to do this. I lool forward to covering your fight at Caged Rage 4.
