Mixed Martial Arts has been on a constant climb of greatness over the past year and a half. There have been plenty of great events over this time with new promotions and returning promotions seeing great success. Along the way have been some events that weren’t so successful and have since ceased operation. The one thing that remains is that FL fighters have had many avenues to gain experience and display their talents. On the horizon is perhaps the greatest weekend in the history of FL MMA. This coming Mondaywill start off what is known all across the sport as “fight week”. Yet it isn’t simply fight week for one big promotion, not even just two big promotions, but three of FL’s most successful and notable promotions.
Friday the 28th sees the return of Real Fighting Championship, FL’s longest running professional promotion, with their event RFC 30: Turf Wars. RFC President and matchmaker, Joe Valdez, has been in the MMA scene in FL for quite some time. He is known as “The Godfather of FL MMA” by many and the term isn’t used lightly. Many notable fighters from across the sport have graced the RFC cage at one point in their career. Joe and hi team, headed up by Chris Bigboy, promise that this is going to be one of RFC’s best events to date. The promotion has been doing great events in their home of Tampa, FL for many years and is as strong as ever. RFC 30 will take place at the prestigious A La Cart Pavilion in Tampa, FL.
RFC 30 will be followed the next day by FL’s top two amateur promotions; both putting on their 1st events respectively of 2014. Staying in Tampa, the fans will have the opportunity to see World Class Fight League put on their event, WCFL 8: Judgment Day. WCFL is coming off of their recent win as Amateur MMA Promotion of the Year for FL in 2013. They achieved great success this last year, featuring some of the biggest fights the area has ever seen. The team of Rafael Garcia and Duane Spires make just about the best team in the sport as together they have the perfect balance and deliver that through the most professional event you will see from an amateur promotion. WCFL 8 will follow up their Art of Grappling kid’s tournament which is headed up by the genius mind of Cris MidgetTwister Rodriguez, head coach of Gracie Pac MMA. This team is a three-headed monster who is an unstoppable force that continues to bring phenomenal MMA and BJJ action to the Tampa Bay area. WCFL 8 will take place at the beautiful Hilton Double Tree Westshore in Tampa, FL.
Last and certainly not least, taking place the very same day, is Breakthrough MMA 11: Spring Break Beatdown. BMMA has been a staple of the FL scene and the historic and beautiful Daytona Beach for quite some time. Owner and operator, Jason Arnett, has been producing stellar amateur MMA events for FL fans for quite a while and is beyond excited for the opportunity he has with BMMA 11. Breakthrough MMA was the runner-up for 2013 Amateur Promotion of the Year and 2014 will surely be an even bigger year with many more exciting fights for residents and visitors of the world’s most famous beach. The event will feature the finals of a few tournament brackets that place at BMMA 10. BMMA has featured many of FL’s most popular amateur fighters and has continued to deliver great fights for all fans of combat sports. BMMA 11 will take place at the highly esteemed Ocean Center in the heart of Daytona, FL.
