CWC events are the premier MMA shows in the Pacific Northwest as they are the proving grounds for tomorrow’s future stars and champions. This 14-bout card is sure to highlight the rising blue chip prospects in and around Washington State.
In the main event, WEC veteran Mike Joy (8-6) battles Cory Vombaur (6-2). Joy is a longtime veteran to MMA and has taken on some of the top 145 lb fighters in the world. Joy possesses a well-rounded MMA game and is equally dangerous with his strikes and with his submissions. He will bring a big-fight experience advantage into the showdown with Vombaur and look to push the action in the very beginning hoping to overwhelm his opponent. A solid win by Joy here could turn a lot of heads. Vombaur is also looking to grab people’s attention in this fight as the gritty Washington native is on a 2-fight win streak and already holds a title with another organization. Vombaur is a crafty veteran as 5 of his 6 wins have come via stoppage and he likes to mix up his attacks which always keeps him coming forward in this fights. The winner of this bout will be able to lay claim as the #1 regional featherweight in the Pacific Northwest. Expect a barnburner from these two as they will be looking to finish the fight early.
In the co-main event, AJ Weber (1-2) fights Ben Haley (1-0). Weber had a solid amateur career but suffered a couple tough losses as a pro. Weber looks to improve his record to .500 as he takes on another rising prospect. Haley is undefeated in one fight, winning via submission in the first round. Along with a solid grappling background, Haley likes to throw hands and is dangerous when his combos start to fly.

In the main event, Christien Savoie (2-0) battles Jeff Brake (2-3) for the CECR Middleweight Title. The undefeated Savoie had both wins via KO in round one and is a feared striker because he can knockout his opponents with either hand. Savoie is a rising star in Eastern Canada and is looking to cement his place in the game with another dominant first round stoppage. Brake is coming off a tough decision loss where many spectators believed he won the fight. Brake has never been stopped in 5 fights but both of his wins have come by way of KO or submission. Brake has tremendouse heart and cardio and will look to test Savoie early and often. Both Savoie and Brake come into the fight looking for their first title so expect their to be fireworks early on. Don’t blink because one of these gladiators will be going out on his shield most likely.
In the co-main event, Richard Huard (2-0) takes on Manual Barroeta (0-0) at a catchweight of 150 lb. Huard is a grappling specialist as each of his wins have come via tapout, both in the first round where neither opponent lasted more than two minutes. Huard has multiplte attacks on the ground and is feared for his armbars, armlocks and a variety of chokes. Huard is constantly looking for a finish. Barroeta makes his debut as the Venezuela transplant now living in New Brunswick has a solid challenge in front of him. Barroeta is known for having great cardio, but his MMA game has never been established in the cage. Look for Huard to go for a takedown early and try and put Barroeta’s grappling game to the test.
