Liddell On Wrong End Of Hightlight Reel

After watching Chuck Liddell knockout openents in highlight reel fashion for years he finds himself on the wrong end of the highlight reel tonight. Rashad Evans seemed quite confident shaking off Liddell’s first big right hand early in the first round. Despite the cut on his right cheek bone Liddell won the first round 10-9 on many’s scorecards. Evans came out strong in the second round. Liddell had Evans backed up towards the cage and tried to land a right uppercut. Like Liddell has so many times before, Evans countered and beat him to the punch landing a devastating overhand right. Liddell was out cold for several minutes. The stoppage was reminiscent to that of the Iceman’s knockout victory of Randy “The Natural” Couture. Couture retired that night right there in the Octagon and by the looks of things maybe the Iceman should have done the same. Now Couture is back in the Octagon and is scheduled to fight at UFC 91 in what could be UFC’s biggest fight ever. Liddell has now lost three of his past four fights being knocked out twice. It’s not looking good but hopefully this isn’t the last we’ve seen of the Iceman, maybe he can make the kind of comeback Randy Couture has and find himself fighting at the top of his game again.
