LEGENDS OF MMA HALL OF FAME AWARD CEREMONY
Class of 2014 inducted on Nov. 16 at Silver Legacy
On Nov. 16, five MMA greats will be inducted into the Legends of MMA Hall of Fame during a special ceremony in Silver Legacy’s Grande Exposition Hall. This year’s inductees are Art Davie, Big John McCarthy, Pat Miletich, Fedor Emelianenko and Rickson Gracie. The event is open to the public and will feature special guests Frank Shamrock, Dan Severn, and Stephen Quadros. Hosted by Inside MMA’s Ron Kruck, the event will also have special presenters to include Jens Pulver, Sean Wheelock and Monte Cox. Tickets are on sale now at SilverLegacyReno.com, Ticketmaster.com, or by calling 775-325-7401.
Legends of MMA Hall of Fame is a licensed and certified Hall of Fame and was founded in 2013 based around the sport of MMA as a whole and not just tied down to one promotion. It was a void that Legends of MMA President Ashe Bowman noticed and wanted to fill.
“There’s a lot of people in this sport who deserve recognition that might not ever receive it unless they are involved with certain promotions,” Bowman said. “And that’s why it was very important to me to create this company.”
Nov. 16 will mark the second annual Hall of Fame induction process and unlike last year, will feature an actual award ceremony. This was the vision Bowman first set out to do but wanted to take it slow to make sure it was done correctly with honor and integrity. To help reach his goal he reached out to an experienced Chris Maltsburger, who is now the Director of Communications and Talent Relations at the Legends of MMA Hall of Fame, for some advice and guidance. Maltsburger, affectionately known by close friends within the sport as “The Network” due to his connections in the sport of MMA and in other areas of entertainment was honored by the invite and quickly started to put together the foundation of this award ceremony alongside Bowman.
“This event would not have happened if it was not for the help of Chris. He really helped bring my vision to life and I can’t thank him enough for what he’s done,” Bowman said.
They put a respectable panel of industry insiders to vote on nominees, found a venue to host the event and are off and running. Out of 20 nominees, each voter was asked to pick their top 5 choices. At the end of the voting process they tallied the votes and the top 5 ended up being Art, Big John, Pat, Fedor and Rickson.
There will also be a camera crew there to film the event and will provide a PPV link that can be found after the event on either the Legends of MMA Facebook fanpage or on the website www.legendsofmma.com for fans across the globe to watch.
A percentage of the viewership will go to all the inductees, award presenters and past inductees that attend the event. In addition, a large amount of the remaining proceeds, the Hall intends on putting towards a building to start a MMA Museum. Both Ashe and Chris agree that it is important to give back to the ones who laid the cobblestones down on this sport as well as offer an extra line of income to these Legends and all involved to show their appreciation.
The PPV link will provide the speeches made by all of the inductees, award presenters and past guests. A couple stand up comedy routines done by the entertainment before the show as well as some behind the scenes interviews with the guests, crowd and more!
Gold and silver level tickets start at $50 and include a dinner and entertainment by three comedians and an Elvis impersonator. General admission tickets for the presentation are available for $25. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m., doors for general admission will be at 7 p.m., and the presentation will start promptly at 7:30 p.m.
