An opinion from a video interview of Joe “Diesel” Riggs provided by mmarated;
Joe Riggs is a young and talented fighter and has shown moments of great ability, skill and has a physically imposing look (great for a fighter) but as much as I like Joe Riggs, he has always been plagued by injuries and a lack of focus, depending on which Joe showed up that night decided the out come before the fight even took place. I personally think that he got caught up in the flash and started believing his own hype. Unfortunately that led to the end of his time at the UFC, and his move to Strikeforce, since then problems with injury’s and lack of focus due to pain still proved to be a problem. Several months ago Riggs had surgery for the back injury, in an interview before his last fight at Strikeforce Distruction said he felt great and everyone would see the old Riggs.The fight with Stewart ended in the 2nd rd at 2:05, TKO strikes, Riggs wins in good fashion, interviewed later Riggs won that fight with strikes, after breaking his left hand in the first round. Still Riggs looked better than he had in a long time, in the above interview Riggs as always never under confident and never at a loss for words said his goal was to stay on track and get back to the UFC, can he? Time will tell. He has the tools and the ability, but if he can find the will and keep it… He could be a force in MMA (maybe someone should tell him) at 26 he has the time to find the focus he has shown in the past and be the force in MMA he should be… but that’s just me.
