Island Fights “28” Local Military Fighters Making Professional Debut

On May 9th at the Pensacola Bay Center Island Fights will be featuring two service man currently stationed at NAS Pensacola and Cory Station in two separate bouts.

We have Jon Green from Jacksonville, Florida who will be proudly representing the entire United States Marine Corp. Greene said “I am excited to be moving up and making my debut on the professional circuit. He predicts that this fight is going to be an exciting must see fight for the fans in Pensacola.” He is taking on Patrick Abram from Stark, FL. Abram

Green started seriously competing in mixed martial arts upon his arrival in Pensacola and being introduced to Island Fights’ Owner, Dean Toole. Green had an excellent amateur career, after his only loss in 2011 he then went on an eight fight win streak, eventually becoming the Island Fights Amateur Welterweight Champion. He has worked with the likes of Ezra Sellers, Tony Licari and Roy Jones, Sr. just to name a few.

Also making his professional debut is Robert Turnquest originally from Honolulu, Hawaii/Columbus, Ohio. Turnquest is currently serving as a Navy IT-A School Instructor at CID Unit Corry Station. He will be taking on the always tough Ty Evans from Pensacola.
Turnquest started doing Judo when he was 5 years old and earned his black belt in Judo at the age of 16, with his second and third degrees coming while he was stated in Japan. He has been a member of the Armed Forces Judo Team since 2006 and has twice placed 9th at the Military World Games.

He is currently training out of The Academy of Pensacola and Doghouse MMA. Turnquest said, “I am looking forward to an exciting Pro Debut and am happy that I amiable to do it here in Pensacola so my family, friends and co-workers can all attend. “My predication for this fight is that’s its going to be a fight….and a good one!
