This Saturday, Nov. 22, MMA fans in Columbus Ohio are in for a treat as IT Fight Series makes its return to Columbus. The promotion is one of the longest running MMA organizations in the state. The event, IT Fight Series 29, will take place at Star Indoor Sports in Westerville Ohio with doors opening at 6:30 and fights beginning at 7:30. General admission tickets are $25.
The fight card features 10 amateur fights with an additional six professional ones after an intermission. The entire event will be capped off by a headliner that puts UFC veteran Dan “Dragon” Spohn up against Michael Cockerham.
Spohn (8-4) was a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 19 under Team Penn. He made it to the semi-finals before losing to Matt Van Buren. His second chance with the UFC was cut short after a unanimous decision loss to Patrick Walsh who he is now training with for this fight. Spohn was originally going to fight Anton Talamantes (as seen on the fight poster) but a medical issue has forced him off the card. Instead Spohn will face (8-11) Michael Cockerham.
In the co-main event, IT Fight Series veteran Mike Velazquez (3-1) looks to extend his two fight win streak against undefeated Alfred Leisure (2-0). Leisure is coming off of a KO win over Raymond Yanez.
