Submission extraordinaire and former IFL featherweight champion Wagnney Fabiano has signed a contract with the WEC according to Tatame.com, a Brazilian website.

The WEC should make a perfect fit for the 33 year old who excels at his natural weight of 145lbs. Fabiano was unstoppable in the IFL, going undefeated for six straight fights before the organization finally closed it’s doors. The ground master submitted five of the six opponents and only one of the fights made it to round two.

Wagnney is already setting his sights high, focused on climbing his way to the top to face the number one ranked featherweight in the world, WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber.

"My objective is to grow in the event [and] get the title," Fabiano said. "My goal is to fight for the belt and do my best.

"(WEC Champion Urijah) Faber is the best of the world now. To beat him, I think you have to be in good shape. He’s an expert fighter and he has good gas. It’s complicated to beat a guy like him. You have to set a good game plan and be calm and watch the elbows, because if you hits you it can change a whole fight."

Fabiano’s lone loss came at the hands of experienced UFC veteran Jeff Curran all the way back in October of 2006. That being said, Curran wasn’t able to put away the Brazilian.

Their is no word on an opponent for Fabiano in his World Extreme CageFighting debut.
