Fight Time 11: Unfinished Business Full Recap
Fight Time 11 was as sensational as expected. With 10 cards on the fight, all but one was fought at a high intensity. The one fight that did not live up to expectations was Brann Redl vs. David Hayes. 10 fights = 7 submissions, 1 TKO, and 2 Decisions. It was an exciting night of fights by Fight Time Promotions!
Fight #1: Bruce Lutchmedial vs. Cesar Serje (Catchweight Fight @ 140lbs)
Lutchmedial came out much more aggressively than Serje. He landed many quick leg strikes in the 1st round. After the 1st round, Serje seemed to come to life. Rounds 2 and 3 were very exciting. Both fighters attempted Superman punches, but were unsuccessful. Serje rocked Lutchmedial a few times but could not finish him. He even power slammed Lutchmedial, Rampage style, but it proved ineffective. Bruce Lutchmedial wins via Unanimous Decision (29-28)
Fight #2: John De Jesus vs. Hernandez Banks (Featherweight Fight)
Hernandez Banks had an ear to ear grin on his face throughout the entire fight. It proved entertaining as no matter what happened, both fighters kept stepping up their game. Both fighters battled for ground control. When it seemed that no control could be found, De Jesus would stand up but Banks would spend a great deal of time lying on his back. In the 3rd round, De Jesus hit Banks with a punch that sent him falling backwards. De Jesus proceeded to do some flying jump move to throw his body on top of Banks’. John De Jesus wins via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
Fight #3: Gleidson Dejesus vs. Kester Mark (Bantamweight Fight)
This fight was over in less than a minute. But in that minute great ground work was displayed by Dejesus. He quickly took ground control and attempted an Armbar a few times before being successful. Gleidson Dejesus wins via Armbar at 0:50 of Round 1
Fight #4: Shaughn Kuokos vs. Ricardo Surpris (Featherweight Fight)
Although Surpris would get 2 early slams of Kuokos, it would be Kuokos who would take ground control. Shaughn Takes over on the ground and this fight comes to an end rather quickly. Shaughn Kuokos wins via Triangle Choke at 3:09 of Round 1
Fight #5: Randy Barosso vs. Raynold Telus (Lightweight Fight)
Barosso was more aggressive in the 1st round. Near the end of the round Telus landed a few ground and pound punches, but was cut off by the bell. The 2nd round proved to be all Barosso. They went to the ground and he locked in a few Heel Hook attempts before being successful.
Randy Barosso wins via Heel Hook at 1:20 of Round 2
Fight #6: John Rivera vs. Jason Cortez (Catchweight @ 140lbs)
Cortez took the fight to the ground right away and went to work. He flattened out Rivera, took his back and it was game over. Jason Cortez wins via Rear Naked choke at 1:10 of Round 1
Fight #7: Charles Rosa vs. Hauley Tillman (Welterweight Fight)
Rosa took Tillman down with a leg sweep, where the rest of the fight would be spent. Rosa displayed great ground and pound. He attempted an Armbar a few times before gaining the perfect position. Charles Rosa wins via Armbar at 1:56 of Round 1
(There was controversy over the stoppage of this fight. Hauley Tillman claimed to not tapout, though the ref was completely positive that he did.)
Fight #8: Efrain Cintron vs. Jason Jackson (Welterweight Fight)
Jason Jackson displayed many great assets of his fight game. He controlled this entire fight. He power slammed Cintron, landed big punches, and took control on the ground.
Jason Jackson wins via Triangle Choke at 1:10 of Round 2
(Following the fight, Jackson appeared to be injured. He sat on the ground in his corner for a few moments until he was able to stand up. He claims to have been battling flu like symptoms and was simply trying to breathe normally after exhausting himself.)
Fight #9: Brann Redl vs. David Hayes (Middleweight Fight)
Both fighters battled for control on the ground. They both appeared to have great ground work. The 1st round ended and that would be all we would see. Redl could not continue following the 1st round, he never got off of his stool.
David Hayes wins via TKO Retirement at 5:00 of Round 1
Main Event: Fight #10: Jonatas Gurgel vs. Daniel Golightly (Catchweight Fight @ 150lbs)
Gurgel took Golightly to the ground and that was all she wrote. They battled for a little while for ground control, but it seemed as if it was just Gurgel looking for which submission he would use.
Jonatas Gurgel wins via Rear Naked Choke at 3:10 of Round 1
(Before the fight began Charles Rosa came and sat next to me and said as soon as Gurgel takes him down it’s over.)
