Too bad for you if you missed this one. The UFC and SpikeTV must be extremely happy with tonight’s outcome. First off, it was a great thing they did for the troops and they should feel proud. They should also feel proud of the great night of free fights they gave to MMA fans in US, Canada, U.K., and Ireland. Highlights included…
- Koscheck’s HUGE knockout of Yoshida. This was Koscheck’s biggest knockout of his career and right up there with Rashad Evans over Chuck Liddell as one of 2008′s best. All of the fighters were pushing for fans to go to FightForTheTroops.com and donate to the cause in their post fight interviews. In his post fight interview with Joe Rogan Josh Koscheck said “If that wasn’t worth $5 bucks from every MMA fan I don’t know what else I can do”. While on the subject of KOS one question remains, will he be back? Is he still thinking of not signing the video game contract?
- Cantwell breaking Al-Hassan’s arm. That was a jaw-dropper. For a second it was like ‘man, he’s tough. Look at his arm, I can’t believe he’s not tapping’ then – Snap! I don’t know who’s the bigger idiot. Al-Hassan for not tapping out or Cantwell for running around afterwards boasting “I broke it, I broke it”. Then in his interview he says “you don’t know how long I’ve been waiting to do that”. Most fighters would rather not have to break someone’s arm (in this case anyone would have though) but no not Cantwell, he ecstatic.
- Ben Saunders in what Joe Rogan said was “the best display of a muay-thai clinch there’s ever been in the UFC” taking the title of Anderson Silva’s destruction of Rich Franklin.
- Mike Swick taking care of Jonathan Goulet in the old “Quick” Swick fashion with a short right hook that dropped Goulet followed by what seemed to be a thousand hammer fists.
Hartt broke Hill’s leg too but was not televised.
Here are the fight results.

OK I’m going to go donate $5 bucks at http://www.fightforthetroops.com. You’re absolutely right, if that wasn’t worth a fiver from every MMA fan who watched then… I don’t know what is.
