FCFF: Wilsonville’s Evan Schecter Returns to the Slammer to fight on behalf of Doernbechers Children’s Hospital Foundation on July 13th

Evan Schechter at Rumble at the Roseland 66

Portland, OR – On Saturday, July 13th Evan Schechter from Wilsonville, Oregon will make his way back to the cage at the Full Contact Fighting Federation’s signature event “Rumble @ The Roseland.” His efforts are part of a Doernbechers Children’s hospital fundraising mission. He first started on this charitable quest asking for pledges-per-pound in a life changing weight loss journey that led him to his first mixed martial arts (MMA) fight. He is currently accepting donations through www.evanfightsforkids.com. Schechter’s fight at Rumble @ The Roseland 72 will be with four FCFF Title fights; including a much anticipated female championship. Tickets available at Safeway TicketsWest outlets, at www.ticketswest.com or at the door starting at 6pm on fight night. See updated info at ww.thefcff.com.

In Evan Schechter’s debut fight at Rumble @ the Roseland 66 he defeated Timothy Isakson in only two minutes of round one via a rear naked choke submission. Previous to this fight, he launched his Doernbecher’s Children’s Hospital foundation which has risen over $1,500 to-date. On July 13th at Rumble @ The Roseland 72 he hopes to repeat and grow his fundraising efforts in his fight against Theo Stellflug of Tillamook, Oregon. Stellflug’s last win comes from a unanimous decision over Shawn Ebensteiner at Knucklehead 6 in Tillamook, Oregon. Schechter goal is to “generate as much money as possible for DCHF while fighting… My dedication to DCHF is an example of my belief that children are truly our future,” he said.

Schechter’s past athletic experience includes playing college baseball for Boston University, but states he has “no past combat experience – no wrestling or martial arts training until age 44.” The reason for his late blooming stems from the stress related work environment he found himself in as an Attorney in Portland. After repeated attempts in prestigious firms in Portland, he could not find the right job-fit which began to affect his health and he gained weight – approaching nearly 300 pounds he set in motion a change. For him this was the defining moment to do better for himself, his family, and his community. Schechter currently trains with Scott McQuary, Jamie Huey, and Clayton Hires at One MMA (aka Team Quest Tualatin) in Tualatin, Oregon and works with Enoch “the Animal” Wilson at Animals in Hubbard, Oregon.

“Evan is driven to do good regarding himself and his community. We at the FCFF will do all that we can to help him raise money for a great cause in Portland,” said FCFF Co-owner and matchmaker, Kevin Keeney.
