About the two female Title fight:
Katie Howard, the current FCFF 115-pound Champion from Rumble @ The Roseland 69 will face-off against the FCFF’s 125-pound Champion: Emily Corso on May 18th at Rumble @ The Roseland 71. Howard, the 115-pound Champ has had a bumpy road and she’s improved with each fight – win or lose. Corso has a spotless 6-0, undefeated record with three belts, from three fight organizations: the FCFF’s Flyweight Belt from Rumble 65 (won via armbar), the Cage Star belt (TKO in round one) and the Budofights belt (round two submission). In Howard’s last fight at Rumble @ The Roseland 70 she took on ‘arguably’ the toughest woman in the northwest mma scene: Robin Woods, who defeated her via a rare knockout due to powerbomb slam in round number two. “Katie is one tough fighter. She’s getting right back into the cage after her loss and hungry to keep her Junior Flyweight Championship reputation intact,” said Kevin Keeney, FCFF co-owner and matchmaker, “This will be Emily’s first fight in 2013 and both women want to win.”
The Women’s 205-pound Championship fight was originally scheduled for Rumble @ The Roseland 70 – it’s back on. These two have been schedule to meet each other, two times in the past – the tension between them has risen and the action will go down on May 18th. Hillary VanOrnum, a dominating face in the local MMA and Jiu-jitsu scene will face relative newbie, Myndi Stalnaker of Team Thunderdome at The Octagon. Stalnaker has undergone a personal transformation, losing 110 pounds so far. Stalnaker brings a family history in boxing to her mma training, which started at Alive MMA and is full-time with Jana Simms at “The Octagon MMA” where she also works. “Being in this industry has changed my life in so many ways, I would love to lead by example and to show them [her female teammates] that anything is possible,” says Stalnaker, “I’d like to get a couple more fights in this year, regardless if I win this fight or not.” VanOrnum’s debut into mma came at the FCFF’s Rumble @ The Roseland 59. There she beat Danae Castle via TKO in round number two. Her next FCFF fight was at Rumble @ The Roseland 65 in August of 2012. This fight went to decision against Leanne Foster and VanOrnum came out on top. VanOrnum has a brown belt in Judo and purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and was a former Division I basketball player. She’s been training in mma for about five years. In June of 2011, she went to the World Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships and got fifth place. At Worlds, she beat the current Brazilian National Champion, the current Blue Belt Lightweight World Champion and European Champion.
