Dave “Pee Wee” Herman will get his first taste of main event status with EliteXC as he takes on “The Ultimate Fighter 2″ cast member Kerry Schall at ShoXC on October 10 at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN.
FiveOuncesofPain.com broke the news today, confirming the bout with EliteXC VP Jared Shaw and “Pee Wee’s” manager Mike Camp.
Herman, a relatively unknown heavyweight with massive talent, started off his career with a bang going 11-0 since December of 2006. He finished his first two EliteXC opponents off in impressive fashion, stopping both of them with strikes. He disposed of Ron “H2O” Waterman in his most recent showing in just a little over two minutes.
“Pee Wee” has impressive striking skills and amazing knees. Just ask Mario “Big Hurt” Rinaldo who ate a consistent diet of Herman’s knees for three rounds at EliteXC “Street Certified” before finally succumbing to the undefeated heavyweight at the beginning of the third round.
Kerry “Meat Truck” Schall is an experienced fighter with a total of 31 fights to his credit. The 37 year old has struggled as of late, dropping his last two bouts in a row. Schall has faced some impressive competition over the duration of his 10 year career as a pro including a bout with the undisputed heavyweight king of the world Fedor Emelianenko. Unfortunately he was arm barred in less than two minutes.
Schall struggled on season two of “The Ultimate Fighter” and failed to make it to the shows semifinals. He still got his chance to shine on “The Ultimate Fighter 2 Finale” in a bout against Keith Jardine but ended up succumbing to Jardine’s murderous leg kicks half way through the second round.
I personally think this is a pretty easy fight for Herman who has impressed me in his recent bouts. Look for “Pee Wee” to take advantage of his dynamic striking with a lot of knees and uppercuts in the clinch. Schall, with only 2 wins by TKO, will have to take the fight to the ground if he wants any shot at victory. However, Herman is very wily on the ground which will make it a tough proposition for the veteran.
