Chris Barnett secured another early finish this past weekend at Island
Fights 30 by knocking out Jon Hill in the 1st round securing the Island
Fights Super-Heavyweight title.
Barnett has been on quite the run lately as he is on a four fight win
streak, with all wins coming by way of KO/TKO. This is quite the turnaround
from just a short time ago when he missed out on a number of fights for
Barnett has long been considered one of the most talented young fighters
across the regional scene. The only loss to date in his career came from a
Majority Decision against Eric Prindle at Martial Combat 12 in 2010. Aside
from that fight, Barnett has knocked out just about everyone he has faced.
The cancellation of many bouts put a bit of a mark on the young career of Barnett, but as his resurgence is looking so promising it may just erase that from memory. This was Barnett’s third fight with the Pensacola, FL based Island Fights. Dean Toole, Island Fights owner, feels very good about having Barnett with the promotion and is already looking to his next fight and lining up an opponent.
With Barnett only being 28 and having yet to hit the prime of his career, it can only be assumed just how good he really is. He has shown remarkable athleticism and great technique throughout his time as a professional fighter.
The question will remain to be answered as to whether he stay committed and focused to securing his name as one of the top fighters in MMA. As for now, MMA fans can continue to be treated by his highlight reel finishes.
