FRANCE MAKES HISTORY AS MMA CAGE AND UNIFIED RULES USED FOR THE FIRST TIME France Makes History as MMA Cage and Unified Rules Are Used for the First Time (London.20th September 2015)  Last night on 19th September for the very first time on French soil, World Warriors Fighting Championship held a martial arts event under the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and in a caged MMA ring. ‘WWFC Cage Encounter 4’ at the Cirque d’Hiver in Paris marked the fulfilment of a long held dream for France’s mixed martial arts community. Although MMA is not technically illegal in the country, it has in practice been impossible for promoters to secure licenses permitting the use of the caged safety enclosure or strikes on the ground. IMMAF LAUNCHES WORLD AMATEUR MMA RANKINGS

IMMAF LAUNCHES WORLD AMATEUR MMA RANKINGS IMMAF has launched its IMMAF World Amateur MMA Rankings, in a first for the amateur divisions of mixed martial arts. The lists include both national team rankings and individual competitor rankings, by weight category and pound-for-pound.   The rankings will enable seeding across IMMAF international competitions that will raise the level of safety through enabling better controlled matchmaking. The initiative will also raise the level of competition, by ensuring that top ranked athletes are not eliminated in the early rounds and will lead to more exciting matches.   The new IMMAF World Amateur MMA Rankings currently lists its top 10 national teams in the following order: USA (1), Italy (2), Canada (3), Sweden (4), France (5), United Kingdom (6), Finland (7), Ireland (8), Poland (9) and Kazakhstan (10).   The current number one male seeds by weight category are: Iurie Bejenari (France) at Flyweight...

Recent Judo Chairman Kerrith Brown Appointed as IMMAF President IMMAF is proud to announce Kerrith Brown as the new President of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), following election by unanimous board vote in Berlin on 20th June.   Following discussions with both the EJU and the BJA Board, Kerrith Brown resigned as Chairman of the British Judo Association due to ideological differences with the leadership of the European Judo Union and the International Judo Federation and to ensure the best interests of British Judo.   Under Brown’s leadership since 2012, British Judo went from strength to strength, most markedly opening the doors of its Centre of Excellence at the University of Wolverhampton (UK) in 2013. IMMAF welcomes the Japan MMA Federation The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) is excited to welcome the Japan MMA Federation (JMMAF), which is undergoing formal name change from Japan MMA License (JML).   Established in 1998 by Japan’s largest professional MMA promotion PANCRASE, the Amateur MMA organisation was founded to aid the development of MMA as a sport in Japan.  The organisation is run according to democratic statues in line with international sporting values.   As the JML, the Japan MMA Federation has built up a nationwide network of over 200 MMA gyms and 20,000 participants; and holds Amateur MMA competitions 10-12 times a year across many Japanese cities. IMMAF PRESIDENT RESPONDS TO ROUGÉ’S ATTACK ON MMA FOLLOWING FRENCH JUDO PRESIDENT’S COMMENTS TO MAGAZINE, L’EQUIPE (London. February 24th 2015) International Mixed Martial Arts Federation president, Bertrand Amoussou, has responded to the latest verbal attack on the sport of MMA by French Judo Federation president Jean Luc Rougé  Speaking to French magazine, L’Equipe, Rougé recently stated that anyone in judo caught teaching MMA will be removed from the French Judo Federation.
