Affliction “Banned” Fighter Payouts (Salaries)

Tim Sylvia may have watched his legacy diminish before his eyes during his 36-second loss to Fedor Emelianenko, but it was the most lucrative 36 seconds of his entire life.

Sylvia earned a record-high $800,000 for his half-minute scuffle with the former Pride heavyweight king and now undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

"The Last Emperor" made out with half a million less than his opponent. That fact that Sylvia walked away with $500,000 more than the event winner is unsettling, but unfortunately that’s part of the game. If fighters were paid based on talent, Fedor would have singlehandedly put Affliction under water.

Andrei Arlovski wasn’t complaining after his war with former IFL star Ben Rothwell. The former UFC heavyweight champ pocketed the second-highest pay, that of $750,000, for his third-round destruction of "Big Ben." He received half a million to show and another $250,000 as a win bonus.

All in all the total disclosed payroll for Affliction "Banned" was $3,332,100.

Thats so crazy, Fedor should have got 800,000 and Sylvia 300,000. Josh Barnett should have gotten more too.

Don’t worry about Fedor. I assure you he made well over $1 million on this fight. Sign-on bonus, ppv cuts, etc.
It’s definitely nice to see these guys get paid well, but I have a feeling Affliction will realize they are overpaying some of these guys.
Ben Rothwell, Matt Lindland, Tim Sylvia, Vitor Belfort, were all overpayed. They should work their way up to those numbers, they haven’t proved to be the huge attraction they claim to be.
